A safe house to live

Kanchhi Damai is 52 years and lives in ward no. 9 Jugetar of Bidur municipality with other 4 members. After her husband’s death, all the responsibility towards her family came onto her. She said that there were lots of difficulties even when her husband was together and after his death, it became tougher. Kancchi lost all her hope of surviving during earthquake that took place in 2072 but she said that she didn’t die even in such a tough situation. She gets worried about not being able to provide appropriate education and training to her sons. Due to this, her sons couldn’t earn sufficient income to run the family and also build a house.

Building a house was impossible for them when running the family was already so difficult so they were living in the unsafe cottage. When this housing program support was provided to her, things that seem impossible for kanchhi became possible. People around had a very low perspective towards her being a low caste, Dalit and a widow at the early age. But after Fuller Center and even the international volunteers of Fuller Centre came to build house, even the community people started to treat her with respect. Housing program built her house and together she gained social esteem. She says, “I am extremely thankful toward Fuller Center and from now on I can live happily with my family in our own house”.
