Community Housing Program

Nepal Integral Mission Society is working in partnership with The Fuller Center for Housing, USA in the area of housing initiatives project since 2009 in Nuwakot with a goal to build strong, durable, healthy and cost effective houses to needy and deserving families. NIMS also worked in partnership with FIDA and ERDO in 2017 to build houses for impoverished families.

The main objective of community managed affordable housing initiative program is to address the housing need in the community where people are living in poor, unsafe and unhygienic shelter by empowering families in building their own houses through home owners group managing revolving fund. Also, we promote local construction materials using appropriate building technology with a goal of providing decent house to the needy families to help alleviate the poverty housing. Mainly, this housing support was provided to those who were unable to build house on their own but owns a piece of land with own title. Also, national and international volunteers are given opportunities to help them build the houses. Till end of 2022, 227 houses were build by providing revolving fund which includes 158 houses from project and 70 houses from collected revolving fund. So, together the house owner are also participating in this movement to alleviate poverty housing.
